Exposure Labs came to us with a challenge that matters: create an animated explainer video series that shines light on how technology is not neutral, and what we can do about it. The series needed to break down complex topics like digital harms and algorithmic bias in a way that's accessible and urgent without being preachy.

Our Approach
We developed a bold, vivid visual language for the series that pairs animated scenes with expert testimonies. The illustration and motion design style is colorful and graphic, using layered compositions and dynamic transitions to keep viewers engaged through nuanced subject matter. Each episode tackles a different facet of tech bias and its real-world consequences, from how algorithms shape what we see to why this is the civil rights issue of our time.
Our team handled creative direction, design, illustration, and animation across the full series, with music and sound design by Zing Audio and Fight for the Future as the impact partner.
The Result
The series provides Exposure Labs with a visual toolkit to educate audiences on the intersection of technology and equity. It's an example of how animation can take abstract, systemic problems and make them feel concrete, personal, and urgent, the kind of nonprofit and cause-driven work Fern is proud to be part of.
