Waterford.org is a nonprofit dedicated to providing equitable access to high-quality education for every child, with a focus on early learners. They came to us with a big library of educational content that needed to feel alive. The goal was to create a series of adaptive learning animations that could help young children grasp foundational math and literacy concepts through engaging, character-driven storytelling.

Our Approach

We developed a flexible animation system built around playful characters and clear visual storytelling. Each lesson needed to teach a specific concept while keeping kids engaged and curious. For math, that meant bringing ideas like coin identification, counting, number recognition, measurement, sorting, and geometry into animated scenarios that feel more like play than instruction. For literacy, we focused on concepts like rhyming and phonemic awareness, using rhythm and repetition to reinforce learning through the animation itself.

Our illustration team created a bright, inviting world with characters that kids want to spend time with. The animation style is warm and expressive, with enough visual variety across lessons to keep things fresh while maintaining a consistent look that feels like home to returning learners. Every design decision was made with young eyes in mind: clear shapes, high contrast, purposeful movement, and pacing that gives kids time to absorb what they're seeing.

The Result

A growing series of adaptive learning animations that meet children where they are and help them build confidence in foundational skills. The work is a reminder that educational content doesn't have to feel like homework. When the craft is there, learning and delight aren't mutually exclusive.
